Intermodal - the best of both worlds
Companies from more and more industries want to use trains for long hauls, but their factory or stores might not be located close to tracks. In order to meet the market's demand for environmentally friendly logistics solutions, we developed our Green Cargo Intermodal offering.
We transport trailers or containers by train over long distances and then use trucks to reach final destinations. This is an efficient alternative to long haul road transports and is greatly beneficial to the environment. We can either take responsibility for door-to-door delivery or the customer can drive to our terminals and have the freight lifted to and from the trains. We have invested in both logistics expertise and the type of wagons needed for meeting the growing demand for intermodal solutions. We are also now starting to run intermodal commuters in Europe.
In addition to it being beneficial for the environment, demand for intermodal solutions will be driven by rising fuel prices and, in the case of our international traffic, congestion on the highways. Many haulage companies have discovered the possibility of using trains for long hauls and we warmly welcome more passengers on this train as its heads into the future.
