Logistics help increase reading
By handling their books more efficiently, Akademibokhandeln and Bokus will increase their book sales. Orders from publishers, price-tagging and distribution will now be done using a smarter system. There is plenty of space for both bestsellers and more niche literature in the logistics solution developed by Akademibokhandeln and Green Cargo for books and office supplies. Large orders from each publisher will be sent to Green Cargo's spacious book warehouse in Norrköping. There, every store's delivery will be priced-tagged and packed together with books from other publishers. When the deliveries reach the stores, they can be unpacked directly onto the shelves, ready for sale.
Warehousing is not the only activity that has been streamlined. Trucks wind through the Mälardalen and Östergötland regions, making pick-ups from the publishers and delivering the picked, packed and price-tagged deliveries to the stores. This summer, Coop stores and OK/Q8 stations will be serviced via the same flow, which means that 20 percent of all of the books sold in Sweden will go through Green Cargo in Norrköping. Talented writers and smart logistics will help people read more.
