Coop takes the train
Coop intends to decrease it carbon dioxide emissions by 40 percent by the year 2020. It contacted Green Cargo to see if we could develop a logistics solution together that would save both money and the environment. Starting in September 2009, daily Coop trains began to run between Helsingborg and Stockholm. Each train is loaded with around 30 truck trailers. This means that there are 350 fewer trucks on the E4 highway every week, and that every year 18,000 trucks will take the train for this long stretch.
Coop has been a market-leader in terms of environmentally certified and fair trade certified goods in its stores and the company now leading the pack in climate-smart transports for the retail industry. This is why Coop was named Climate Comet of the Year in 2009.
Green Cargo's national transports are an approved Good Environmental Choice
